Garden Media Guild Blog of the Year 2019

Alison Levey: I have been writing about my garden on ‘The BlackberryGarden’ blog since 2011. I am an amateur and somewhat obsessed gardener and I am based in Leicester. I write about my own garden and what inspires me to garden: gardens I have visited, plant fairs and garden shows. I also review garden related books and products. The Blackberry Garden is not a ‘how to’ blog, the aim is to talk more about the enjoyment of gardening and it is read by people who garden and people who do not, all readers and followers are very welcome.

Netflix The Big Flower Fight - some thoughts

So what is next on your list of lockdown viewing now that you have finished the Tiger King? Do you need something soothing, something to take you into another world of colour, foliage and flowers? Will it be The Big Flower Fight currently airing on Netflix? I became aware of this series through seeing someone tweet about it and then receiving a text from a friend saying they were watching it. Out of curiosity I paused what I was watching at the time and tuned in. There lies the rub, we can identify with baking even if we do not do it, we (well I) can identify with a sewing contest and even the pottery version which is way outside my field of skills I found a fascinating watch. Product Review: Honda izy-ON HRG 466 XB cordless lawnmover and HHT Cordless Brushcutter

Regular readers may recall that last year I went to the launch of the Honda Cordless Garde n range. It was a great day and I got to try various different Honda mowers, and hedgetrimmers and strimmers. I was therefore delighted when I received an email asking me if I would like to have the loan of some equipment to trial and review. I quickly said yes. I have to be transparent and say that I have not paid for these items. I have not be paid to write this review and my words and opinions are, as ever, my own. The first item I chose to review was the HHT Cordless Brushcutter. This is a fabulous piece of kit. The same battery fits the brushcutter and the mower which is always a good thing as it means that you do not need to buy lots of different batteries. The battery and charger are sold separately so you must remember to buy at least one. Honda sent me the 6HA battery with the equipment. The batteries come in three sizes: 4, 6 and 9 HA. Product Review - the Hansford Coil Spring Garden Chair

There are those things that take me right back to being a child and rocking chairs are one of those things and I have always wanted one. This is a long winded way of saying that when the nice James from Hansford Furniture asked me if I wanted to review one of their Hansford Coil Spring Chairs I could not say yes fast enough. I need to be clear that I have not paid for this chair and I have not been paid to write this review; my words and opinions are as ever my own. The chair is made from powder coated wrought iron and is available in three finishes: Black, May Green or the one I chose, Duck Egg Blue. I am a big fan of duck egg blue and I find it is a colour that works well in my garden. The chair arrives in two pieces and a kit including everything you need to put it together including the spanner and allen key.
